Is there value in Sonoma Zinfandel (Chris H's home): I put this in as an extra bottle to have an aged Zin. There aren't many that age but Swan and Ridge are two that I have in the cellar. This did not show well, but I am not sure if it was the age or what. It was mine and the groups last place wine. Purple/ruby in color. The nose shows cherries and menthol but also a candied quality. On the palate, sour cherries and very tart. It is disjointed at this stage. Not sure what is going on here. Oh well, it happens.

Enjoyable now but this may go forever. Red and black fruit on the palate with so much energy it just begs for food. Nice spice with a medium weight mouthfeel that shows the tangy and restrained side of Zinfandel. I will hold off on the next bottle for many years.

14.2% alcohol. Classic Swan Zinfandel profile. A lovely, cherry-laden nose with spice and minerals. In the mouth, lively and focused, with great verve to the palate. This has opened up beautifully over the past two years. A delicious, food-friendly Zin with a red-black fruit profile, spice, tangy acidity, and a long finish. It has taken some time to come around, which makes me think of the 1999 Mancini, which continues to drink well. This has a happy future ahead. A-

Great acidity. Nice balance, and rich, juicy fruit without being one dimensional.
