  Dark and dense color. Dark aromas with cherries, smoke, leather and some oak. Massive and concentrated on the palate, with pronounced acidity. A bit extracted, but very impressive.

  Still showing well, dark fruit, good acid. Brick red color. Paired well with spaghetti and meatballs.

  Subsequent notes on this wine from close to 7 years ago. Dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges but no bricking. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of complex, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of violets & dusty/earthy notes, spices, cocoa/mocha, leather, olives, minerals, tobacco, anise, herbs & a hint of cedar. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, complex, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & mulberries with herbs, cocoa, spices & a bit of vanilla/oak in the background. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing & at 19 years of age, it is holding up quite well & should maintain its current stage of development for several additional years. However, I doubt any further development would occur from additional aging. Fill was in the lower neck; cork was clean & intact.

  Decanted 3 hours. Full body. Deep color. Dark berries. Very balanced. Brooding finish. I wish we had more of this vintage.
