  • This was great. The nose started with mint and floral notes and then the fruit became more prominent with air. Still lovely dark fruit with cassis and blackberry. Earth and floral. Still some tannin but good balance and delicious stuff

  • Cork in v good condition, from a private collection via a very reputable retailer in 2013. In my cellar since then.

Right out of the gate, heavenly nose. Berry-essenced rich dark chocolate, on a real lifted red fruit (goumi?) flying carpet. Could smell it for ages. Surprisingly high acid. Tannins are lithe. Lots of new american oak, which, huh, does that ever become subtle? Here's maybe as close as that gets. Nice secondary notes, but in all, I'm shocked how young this tastes, which might just be owing to the immutable oak.

Day two: That same brightness on the nose is still present but not as loud. In fact, it's overshadowed by something much more resolved, tertiary, earth, cedar, blackcurrant. Acid has integrated, and the body has given way to a fair amount of pyrazines (green bell pepper), with lots of spice on the finish. Distinctly more elegant and old world today.

This was my only bottle, but my sense is, if yours are also properly stored, there's not any rush on this.

  • Drank from magnum, superb!! Beautifully smoothe with great balance and finesse. Drink now - probably doesn’t get much better, but very enjoyable now.

  • My last bottle of this acquired just after release and cellared at home. Decanted at 5pm and tasted 0ver the next 4-5 hours. This went very well with a fire grilled whole beef tenderloin, my patented Mashed Potatoes, Port wine sauce and sirracha soy Brussels sprouts, perhaps better than the other more pedigreed Red’s this evening. It was a medium bricked garnet with the classic Silver Oak nose of vanilla, chocolate, earthy forest floor, licorice and red and black fruit, Palate was smooth with mostly integrated tannin, moderate acidity, somewhat lean fruit, mostly plum and cassis along with some graphite and leather. Finish is chocolate and moderately long. Overall complex and layered. Quite nice but fully mature and on a gentle downslope I think.
