I bet it's been at least a decade since this wine was in its prime. More rustic and bright, than fresh and silky, and that's a nice way of putting it. There is not much left here. If you have a bottle, drink up.
Bought from reliable source, level approx. 2 cm under the cork. Cork came out in three parts ( not uncommon for bottles this age ).
Nose - very light, some hints of tobacco, cigars, undertone of wood Colour - not much red to be found, mainly brownish colours Flavour - needs some air first, but some liquorice and ink (?) Taste - slightly sour ( but mild ) and long aftertaste in the throat
Again, a bottle of 48 years old that has survived well in time. Still very much to enjoy for those whom like old wines ( like me )
A tribute to my dad Stewed plum on nose. Hint of treacle. Light and bricky in colour. Very watery rim. Sweet tobacco on palate. Boiled sweets. Soft and smooth. Light drinking. Touch of vanilla on aftertaste. Overall, holding up really well. Cork was tricky to get out but worth the effort.
Amazing wine! Decanted and served right away. A bit closed, but only for 5-10 min. This wine is very deep, complex, and with a very full, sweet and soft aftertast which lasted a loooong time. Tannins were present, but very balanced. RP rated this wine 77 points some years ago - even the best can be wrong. Truely fantastic and a bottle I'll probably remember forever!
