  • What a surprise; tasting really great and holding up well !! Cru Carignane !!
Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle. Consumed over two days. This delicious potently extracted Carignane was dark ruby with medium clarity. Aromas of ripe strawberries, violets and forest floor. Flavors of bing cherry, sweet cranberry, and red currant with a medium to long mineral finish. This is a balanced wine with firm acidity and works best with food. Age worthy Carignane, I still have another bottle of this vintage remaining in my cellar and will sample again within a year to validate my tasting note. Great fruit source from the Buchignani Ranch planted in 1920 and registered with the Historic Vineyard Society. A delightfully balanced wine from a challenging growing year that started cool with severe heat spike late in the growing season. A blend of 95% Carignane, and 5% Zinfandel with great winemaking from John Olney.

  • Blend of 95% Carignane, and 5% Zinfandel from the Buchignani Ranch in Alexander Valley AVA of Sonoma. The vineyard, planted in 1920 is registered with the Historic Vineyard Society. Stan Buchignani is the current generation to grow grapes that his grandfather and father planted.

Translucent ruby color with appealing black cherry, berry, white pepper, cedarwood and a hint of chaparral aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied and very fresh with well integrated fine-grained tannins, and black and red cherry, boysenberry, red currant, cacao flavors accented with a very appealing minerality. Long finish. 13.3% abv.

Fermented on native yeast with minimal sulfur. Pad filtered at bottling. Raised in air-dried American Oak (15% new 45% (1-2 y.o.) 40% (3-5 y.o.) for 12 months.

Ridge is the largest grower of organically certified grapes in Sonoma County and the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA

  • Took a while to open up but a good wine. Probably peaked but still really enjoyed it.

  • PnP, with aromas of black raspberry, plum, black pepper, and earth on the nose. Soft and easy on the palate, with light flavors of raspberry, currant, and pepper. Good with pasta.

  • The bottle seem tired - bought it at auction and may have been slipped a sketchy bottle.
