Not as well balanced as my last bottle but still very good. Power and acidity really benefit from similar foods, notably chorizo, olives and hard cheeses

I like this quite a bit, though my partner thought it a bit sour after food. It has plenty of grenache fruit still, and that comes out with food, but it also has more mature savoury flavours, floating around a hint of smoke with a distinct acid backbone and mild tannins, tailing off into a suggestion of spice. There's a cedar perfume floating around, stronger in some moments and more muted in others. The acid for me hits more after the wine is swallowed, it's pretty smooth in the mouth, but it makes itself felt.

Compared to the previous bottle I had there was lots of jammy and cooked fruit rather than the fresher fruit that came through last time. Plenty of cinnamon and spice too. All of which went well with roast lamb on a cold wintry day.
The alcohol is high but not noticeable or overpowering and there is also good acidity here providing some freshness and balance. I'm not sure how much this wine will further develop and improve but I would expect it to hold at the current level for a number of years. Great QPR.

1/5/2020 - jmcmchi Likes this wine:
Opened 4 hours, straight decant before serving
Less evidence of aging than Irecall in earlier bottles.
Lovely, mature spice and red berries, acidity still lively, taut and bright

11/12/2019 - jmcmchi Likes this wine:
Starts to show brown edges towards the end of the bottle
Mature, an interesting GSMCC blend still showing ripe fruit elements. Notquite lean, bust distinctly not a fruitforward Barossa style
Acidity still holding, screw cap keeping freshness for 14+ years, with, on this sample, so e way to go
