I'd been alternately delighted and disappointed with two prior bottles so I'm pleased to say this one was lovely. At just about the ideal point for my tastes, the fruit still tastes fresh while the medley of aromas have shifted into high gear. Most enjoyable.
We thought perhaps the sweet and slightly precocious '07 Montevertine had shown its best already, but the wine took a turn in another direction. It's definitely not fully developed yet. For the moment the aromas focus on sage, tobacco, earth, and black cherries. it is relatively warm and full-bodied, with lots of stuffing left for a longer future. No hurry at all to finish these lovely bottles.
