  • This wine has aged beautifully. Enjoyed at a steakhouse for my son's 16th birthday. I purchase this in 2013 at a local Kroger store for $31.00.

I did not take notes given the venue, but Andrew Will's note on the nose/palate sounds right. Fruit was beautiful with no oxidation but the secondary characteristics are there now (leather/menthol/tobacco). 93-94

  • Took about an hour for the nose on this to really open up. Cherry, raspberry, orange peel, black licorice, and wet asphalt, all coasting slightly above a floor of aging cedar and leather.

Palate boasts sweet raspberry, kirsch, baking spice, and lingers with fresh red fruit. Offers some great mid-palate umami often showing in wines this age.

I don’t drink a lot of Barbaresco, which I’m trying to change. But this doesn’t strike me as anywhere near over the hill. Not sure it’ll improve further, but should be good to go for several more years.

  • I recently drank the 2012 and thought it was in a better place than the 2008 majestic 2008 still has grippy tannins, but it smelled magically of dark cherry, rose, and smoke. A complex wine, that was enjoyed from a magnum for Christmas Eve dinner. Don’t get me wrong, the 2008 is a great wine, just as the 2012. They just are in different places.

  • Nydelig velutviklet vin.
