At Torrey Pines before golf on Saturday A bit surprised at the persistence of the tannins, after this many years expected more evolution. Have been a fan for years, liked it, but have liked other vintages more. Not sure time will fix

Deep dark blackish red in appearance with an amazingly opulent nose of rich dark black and blue fruits framed in tobacco, coffee, vanilla and oak. The palate is rich, forceful and powerful, on the fuller side of medium-bodied, with good structure, very round and well-balanced with nothing out of place despite the 14.5% abv. The flavor profile is very dominated by good quality Cabernet fruit, nicely complimented by notes of old tobacco box, dried grassy herbs, moderate vanilla and cedar oak with a wonderfully pronounced loamy minerality that glides though effortlessly through the moderately long finish. Purchased back in 2010 and drinking incredibly well now with just a hour of aeration but I believe that this lovely wine should have what it takes to last for at least the short to mid-term. This is great example of a fine mountain cabernet from an exceptional vintage from the famed Napa appellation. A truly amazing wine that paired wonderfully ribeye steak on a memorable evening with family and friends in Texas.

Slow ox 4 hours. Overripe blackberries in vanilla cream with a slight touch of sweet Oak. Velvety smooth. Very enjoyable, but nothing unique about this wine.

Decanted. Defiantly enhanced the aroma and taste. Had one about a month ago which was just PnP. Glad I decanted.
