While southern rhones from 99 do not seem to be heading in a great direction based on my tasting of late, the ones that have excessive oak have really closed and dried up IMHO.   Fresh, crushed raspberry, spicy clove, mushroom, iodine and a touch of leather. Rather light on body and fruit flavor. A nice crisp, red-fruited, spicy finish. Nothing special but a good Tuesday night wine.
