Vintage Port (Fem Bord, Trondheim): Apricot, hint of caramel. Settled sweetness, very good balance. Slightly cloying, but light. A bit short and lacking in complexity, but very enjoyable.

A Portnight (Fem Bord, Trondheim): Very fresh, intriguing and promising nose - hopes which the taste does not fulfil. Linear and clear, youthful, but lacking in length and complexity.

Another exceptional old riesling. WE had doubts about a1976 Mosel BA, but the viscosity and pure fruit proved once again the extraordinary life of well-made German rieslings. This bottle was not as crisply defined as some older Rheingau auslesen or Mosel BA wines, but instead was typical of Christoffel in that the viscosity and stronger center palate of fusel oil brought together the superbly concentrated loquat, orange, grapefruit and tropical floral tastes with the BA heritage quite intact.
