Opened but not decanted about 1 hour before drinking and consumed over another 2 hours or so. Still a deep garnet red color. Oodles of Asian spices on the nose along with some herbs and tobacco. Deceptively, and disappointingly, light on the palate with little of the complexity that the aromas led me to anticipate. Sufficiently fruity with some good acidity but rather bland overall in taste. Looking at my prior notes this appears to have been its best early in life and merely survived rather than improving over the years. Purchased on release and stored in my cellar since.

Cork broke, so I decanted. On the impressive nose, dusty whole cluster notes combined with Pinot perfume, well-balanced mid-palate with plenty of secondary flavors, dry but textured finish. Perfect with duck confit….I doubt that this will improve, but it’s certainly delicious now. Savory.

Plenty going on here and fruit still present. Last one I tasted was 6 years ago and did not expect this longevity. In a really nice place with integration and balance of the elements.

Opened for one hour but not decanted and then consumed over the following 4 hours. Deep, opaque red-garnet color that fades close to the rim. Intensely spicy on the nose, like a an Asian bun, with loads of fruit as well. Complex, integrated, and palate-coating with intense, ripe fruit but lovely balance. Tasted a lot like a great port without the sweetness or alcohol. The finish was quite short and acidic. All in all this was a wonderful wine with pork loin for dinner but is nothing like I expect from Eola-Hills or this vintage. I feel like the reserved nature of the vintage is the only thing keeping it from being blowsy. That said, it's still an outstanding drink with plenty of life ahead.

Exceeded my expectations. Evolved considerably while sipping it over the course of an hour. I would open bottle an hour ahead next time if drinking right away with dinner.
