Medium yellow. No oxidation at all. Full, waxy. Approximately 80% citrus Chenin fruit and 20% earthy, woolly Savennieres character. One could hardly ask for more vigor and freshness from the 18 year old basic cuvee-bravo!
Even at age 14 it took a few minutes for it to unwind, and then it showed very, very well at the dinner table — pure and long. Less wooly and oxidized than I was expecting, but it still had the classic Savennières nose of apples, melon, hay, and honey. Good concentration to the well-mannered and slightly tart apple flavors.
