  • Grey tea, caramel, tobacco… Very complex, with good concentration, great acidity and great persistence. Smooth, with an oily and creamy texture and good balance. Great intensity and persistence. Very unique. Wow!

  • Deep gold color. Characteristic earthy chenin nose, accompanied by a lifted mineral and citrus nose. Decanted for an hour, and needs to be served cool, not cold. Brioche, orange peel, wet rocks, white flowers and apple peel. Barely sweet, but the intense mineral characteristics also make it seem bone dry at the same time. Had with cream sauce chicken - good pairing - but I can definitely see it with lobster.

  • Sublime. Old bottle and label (I don't think this was reconditioned). Excellent fill and the cork broke apart with extraction. This was decanted to its benefit. Medium golden color with spice and old chenin flavors. The slight sweetness was perfect with shrimp and grits. Dare I say it? - this was better than the excellent Montrachet we had. The old Huets and Foreaus are marvelous wines. Very special.

  • 1961 Huet Le Haut Lieu demi-Sec Vouvray...alc 13%...the cork looks original....this is remarkably fresh and youthful....it has a touch of sweetness with a bit of lanolin and a long finish....great with lobster/shrimp egg rolls

  • Very calm and understated; light gold in colour with beautiful if slightly reticent scents of honey, musk, wool and apple cider. With time this opens and shows more dimensions as the fruit freshens up and other savoury earthy and herbal notes emerge. The mouthfeel's very polished, faintly creamy with bright acids keeping it very lively and a finish that stays with you. Lovely wine and a real treat, thanks Joe.
