Buttered popcorn, a little limestone and truffled earth on the nose. Very lushly textured palate with sweet fuji apples, pears, honey and a touch of cinammon all balanced with crisp limestone. A 45 second plus finish with mouth tingling acidity. Much more lush and sweet than I anticipated, but a pleasure to drink and went wonderfully with pan seared halibut.

A few days in Paris; 7/18/2006-7/23/2006 (Paris): Rich apple and pear-type flavors come across as uncharacteristically ripe for Lafon but never lacking in focus. A rich mineral core. Quite full for the level. Excellent Meursault.

Princeton eBob Coche Dinner (The Ferry House, Princeton NJ): Austere lemon curd notes with a pronounced minerality but comparatively expressionless and lacking the textural appeal of the Coche. My Lafon experience is limited but to me their wines seem quite similar, almost regardless of vintage and pedigree. Still, a quality wine that I'd be happy to drink most any day.

Nose of green apple and vanilla. Little focus on the palate and too marked by oak for me.
