Tasted blind. What a treat to drink a Montrachet that’s ready to drink and not oxidized. Layered, very fine oak notes, ripe yet not copying, great acidity and grip. Notes of melted butter, yellow peaches, flint. Great stuff.

Grands Echezeaux: Served blind. Dense, rich, more mineral than the previous wine (which turned out to be a California ringer, '95 Kalin CH). Some sweettart on the midpalate and a touch of astringency on the finish. Guesses were slim all around the table, we settled on Leroy Meursault.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Montrachet) Light yellow color with 1 millimeter meniscus; mature, rich, tart pear, mineral, tart apple, lightly honeyed nose; tasty, maturing, tart pear, tart apple palate; medium-plus finish (a solid wine, but lacking the depth and complexity I hope for from this grand cru)
(Bouchard Père et Fils Montrachet) Bright canary yellow color; mineral, tart lemon, apricot nose; tight, lovely, elegant, tart citrus, orange palate, with depth; medium-plus finish 93+ pts.

Butterscotch, almond and citrus oil. Rich and dense but lacking a bit of freshness. Drink up.
