Another 89 Verset that is killing it with wilted flowers, green olives, leather and wild fruits. So ethereal and silky with impeccable balance and length. The highlight is the dazzling acidity which gives it life and vibrancy but also light on its feet.

Blackberry, red fruit, roses, tar and leather. Very elegant and balanced. Just a superb wine. Finesse that I do not normally associate with Cornas but seems to be the trade mark of Verset. Lovely wine

Last of 6, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, best bottle from 6 pack with vibrant plum fruit of vintage, nice earth and mineral, complex for Cornas and pipped more complex Jamet CR 85 on same night where fruit was fading. No rush. F+ (18).

Severe brett. Seriously poopy, manure, in a way that meaningfully detracted from the character of the wine. No classic Northern Rhone notes let alone the wild character and campfire that Verset can capture so spellbindingly. Palate was okay, a little stripped and soft, but potable and fine. I've never been so offput by brettyanomyses before, pretty disappointing.

(Noël Verset Cornas) Group's #4 (my #2) – 68 pts.; 2, 2, 4, 1 – medium garnet red color with pale meniscus; another very sexy, '89 Beaucastel-like bacon, roasted fruit and kirsch nose; very tasty, youthful, kirsch, tart plum and sage palate with concentration and depth; medium-plus finish

Some barnyard here, but good clarity of dark red fruit, consistent soil signature across the palate, woodsmoke highlights, and overall good energy.
