Very rich and deep-colored for Volnay. Would have benfited from a decant, as the last glass was more ethereal and high-toned as you would expect from a Volnay. Still, delicious and completely intact. No rush, several years left on this one.
At Støberiet, Holstebro (Denmark)- highly recommended upscale brasserie, if ever you go there. Always nice to drink mature Burgundy - this one at a bargain. This is perhaps not the biggest Burgundy, but the producer is certainly top class. Somewhat transparent, but not quite "see-through"..... The nose initially very tight hinting a bit of damp cellar. After some time in the glass, the classic earthy notes came along. On the palate quite firm tannins for its age, although lacking a bit fruit, I think. Medium long-finish.Some layers of different impressions, but not overly complex. An absolute delight to drink, though.
Closed at first. Surprisingly soft given the vintage. A feminine, reserved style. Doesn't have enough complexity to succeed in this style. Maybe a bit too polite. Maybe this will open a bit more with time, but I doubt it will ever be great.
