A tough question to answer given there has been a big resurgence in quality at this vinyard (Bizot, MugneretGibourg, Liger Belair, Naudin, DRC, etc), but for me, this is certain contender.
Bright ruby with a hint of garnet. Crystal clear. A luscious nose of intense perfume with deep complexity and barnyard. Light to medium bodied and so elegant for what is usually a structured vintage. Bright red fruits and not the deep and dark fruits I perhaps expected. For me, the greatest 1999 I have tried so far (mainly because many are still so closed) and potentially the best Echezeaux. Drank at Baumaniere (3 star restaurant in Provence).

Man this was good. Gorgeous floral spice to the aroma along with pristine cherry fruit. It has some sweet meaty flavours and delicious dark fruits. It is lacy and layered, possess excellent depth and really fans out on the finish. Still very youthful and a wine of beautiful poise and balance.

'99 Red Burgundy Tasting: Heavenly aromatics, palate was not as forthcoming. This needs some air to come together, and the more time it had the better it got. This is probably a good candidate for slow ox, not for pop and pour as we did today.

Is this the greatest Echezeaux?

Outstanding and still getting better. Deep, dark, rich and truly of the terroir. Long, rich and intense. Echezeau may not get better

Wine of the night. Could drink this all day and night. Still has plums and blackberries on the nose.
