Really good Russian River red blend from Rochioli. The syrah is more subtle, less jammy and is nicely balanced with a bit of spice from the zin. Dark and bright red and blue fruit with a touch of smoke on the nose.

Dark fruit, tar, leather, and smoky oak aromas are carried over to the palate, making for a dense, rich, concentrated, stylish package. Very soft and broad, and a bit muddled; this had me wanting a bit more acidity and structure to help clarify the focus of the wine. A pleasant wine, nonetheless, perfect for a chilly evening.

This is 60% Syrah, 20% Zinfandel, and 20% Petite Sirah (purchased fruit!). Opened one day ago. The nose is meaty with some sunny berry scents, citrus, fig newton, pepper. In the mouth, up until this time it's been more Zin-like to me but now it seems to take on some of the meaty Syrah flavors. A bit racy. Bright Rhone-like blend. Lingering raspberry and hazelnut/plum flavors. Garrigue. Oak is there but in balance. This would age to 4 or 6 years, but not much longer. This is a QPR at $28.
