Great wine, holding up well as of December 21 2014. It can lay down a bit longer, but highly recommend enjoying soon. We decanted close to two hours, but not necessary to wait that long. Paired perfect with a filet mignon.
Tasted at the winery on the same day as having it at a restaurant. Go figure that it was the feature wine on the older menu today. I was concerned so decided to bring it to wine country for a group lunch. Drank paired with the 2008 and I was impressed with how well the 2001 held up. Just incredibly smooth and the tannin structure was truly impressive. It was a nice old world Bordeaux blend with a deep brown/reddish tone. Really integrated tannin structure and the fruit tasted terrific. Just a great well balance Cali Bordeaux.
Impressive nose and great up front fruit. Still a few years if you still have them but I personally think the 01 is ready to drink and at its prime right now. Highly recommended
