  • 100% Viognier. This was my first flirt with a Condrieu. The wine smelled exactly like a "German Stollen Christmas cake". Candied lemon peel, fresh almonds, gingerbread and some oxidativ notes of walnut shells and hints of solvent. Very intriguing! On the palate this Viognier showed very good body weight, 3rd tier ripeness characters and again the oxidativ notes which reminds me of a lighter styled Amontillado Sherry. Bone dry, with a good acidity backbone, it makes me want to pound the whole bottle. A prototype of a ripe and well aged Viognier! Simply amazing! Exactly my style at the moment.

  • Rich colour; the nose displays light touches of flowers and peach but comes across as hollow, with a hint of oxidation; the palate has weight and textural richness, but is almost completely devoid of flavour, except for a hint of straw. Too old already?!? A major disappointment.
