  • This bottle got lost in my cellar. I was concerned it might be too old, but no real signs of that yet!

It seemed a bit unbalanced and acidic when first opened, but smoothed out after an hour. Nice black fruits and depth, and good mouthfeel as well.

  • Thoroughly enjoyable Priorat that is in a great place. I love wines in this zone of just mature enough to exhibit some of the dried flowers/sous bois qualities, but still demonstrating vitality. Not the most complex wine, but an excellent qpr.

  • Opened this bottle yesterday and it was a little closed on opening. Showed nice dark fruits but there seemed something missing. Half the bottle was consumed yesterday. Vaca-vin'd the remainder and drank the rest tonight. Much better. Dark chocolate, espresso notes showing. Almost some dustiness to it. But the acidity was still very present too. Still dark fruits notes but the wine seemed more integrated and balanced than yesterday. I've had some very old Spanish wines and they've generally aged really well. Based on the prior notes below I thought this wine somehow might have been past its prime but maybe it was just in a "dumb" phase of maturing and is now showing better. This has been stored in my cellar at 54-56 F since I purchased it around 2006/7.

  • Last of six bottles purchased at auction where I paid too much. Most of the six were past, with some oxidized notes and very drying tannins. Two of the six bottles were actually pretty good, but the last two were not. There once was a good wine here, and I bought these 2003s because I love the 2010s. I wonder if the synthetic cork has something to do with the poor aging.
