A beautiful bottle tonight. An hour's air and quick decant worked well in that the nose was closed at first, but all came good. Sweet mid palate, dark fruit, light on its feet, perfect state of maturity.
Boy did this wine surprise to the upside. It opened dull and slightly flat. However, with 30 minutes of air it seemed as though a light went off. The palate broadened and sweetened. Not as complex as the Pegau but showed lovely purity. Fantastic. (93)
This was nice. It's definitely lighter in weight than most Charvin vintages. I wouldn't suggest it is more advanced than '98 or '00, in fact I suspect the opposite is true, but it will never have the weight of those riper vintages. I quite enjoyed my last bottle though.
