Decanted for an hour but it needed more. Very dark and indeed ‘brooding’ as the label declares. Dense, but rich nose of coffee, cacao and blackberry. Less engaging on the palate as it’s just so heavy but it does have a hint of pepper and mocha. Not as well rounded as the 2012 but if the body catches up with the nose in a few years, this will be wonderful.
Very similar to bottles I have had in the past. Opened and slow ox'd for two hours. The nose was all fruit. The palate was berries, dark cherry, currents and hints of spice. The finish was moderate to long. Went well with the marinated grilled tuna steaks.

Good lord, this is still a huge, meaty, massively structured field blend that badly needs more age. Fruit is there in spades but so are the tannins. I have no doubt that this will be a 30 year wine. The only question is whether the structure outlives the fruit. 3 bottles left so I'm looking forward to finding out!

Opened and slow ox'd for a few hours before dinner Dark fruit on the nose. The palate is dark cherry, blackberry, currant and spice. The finish was moderate to long and smooth. Went great with wagyu burgers off the grill.
