13% alcohol. Tasted blind in a tasting of fifteen dry 2009 Rieslings.
Pale lemon yellow color. Waxy and somewhat developed nose with aromas of peach, some sweet white fruits, a little bit of herbal pilsner-kind of character, light zesty notes of citrus fruits and a hint of floral spice. The wine is ripe, broad and oily on the palate with full body and quite concentrated flavors of apricots, some floral spices, a little bit of developed waxy character, light honeyed tones, a hint of beeswax and a touch of quinine bitterness. The wine feels quite high in acidity. The finish is broad, oily and somewhat developed with medium-long flavors of peach, some pineapple, a little bit of exotic spices, light bittersweet notes of spicy buckwheat honey, a hint of nectarine and a touch of beeswax.
A noticeably big, ripe and even somewhat unctuous Riesling; in this tasting this was undoubtedly among the heaviest ones. The wine shows impressive depth and complexity, but the overall feel is perhaps a bit too heavy and ponderous for my taste, making this wine feel somewhat blowzy and even slightly tired in comparison with the lighter and more delicate Rieslings we had in this tasting. However, many people thought this was one of the most impressive wines in the tasting and scored it accordingly. I really can't disagree, but to me the wine could've used a bit more freshness and elegance. I have a hunch this particular vintage is going to have quite limited aging potential. Scored a total of 39 points, making the wine finish in the 3rd place.

Clean, cristalclear and precise. Peat, resin, reine claudee plums, chalk, lemonpreserve, yeast, tripel ale, iodine, old foudres, hyacinth.... I could go on and on. Very elegant and complex. Thirstqueching and cerebral. A wonderful wine in a unique style that reminds me of Chablis from Raveneau.

Matured well, could be more elegant, but powerful on the palate, ripe fruit aromatics like red apples and pears, long aftertaste. No easy-drinking wine....

Few fruit but saline and really dry, not oxidized or corked. NOt at his end. Some wet stones in the finish. 92
