From memory, this wine is soft, fruity and sweet. It fits the profile of Aussie shiraz, but is not overextracted or cloying. It does kind of drink like a liqueur though. The alcohol did not bother me, but it was present.
Holiday Party (Gail and Steph's, Mpls, MN): Purple red color, inky. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. This showed classic Aussie shiraz character, big full bodied, eucalyptus, kirsch, blackberry liqueur, dense and inky on the palate, with dark red and black fruits, medium finish. Not quite ideally balanced, showing some heat on the nose and the palate. Not obtrusive, but noticeable. This had the distinct gycerin qulaity on the palate and drank somewhat liqueurish.
Dissapointed to see my last bottle of this go. Still retains a purple-black coloring with cedar, menthol and dark fruit on the nose. Medium in weight, feels lighter and softer than most Oz Shiraz, has more the mouthfeel and flavor profile of a CF than a shiraz. Although the finish is a little disappointing with an odd metallic aftertaste this is an excellent package overall.
