A very traditional Rioja crianza. Needed two to three hours decant to fully blossom. Had typical slightly oxidised aromas of vanilla flecked bluefruits, flowers, vinegar, raspberries, cranberries and spice. Has a medium bodied nicely concentrated and dense palate with a stylish mesh of blue, redfruits and vanilla hints underscored by very lively acidity. Ends medium oaky fruity and zingy. An interesting experience but not to everyone's taste.
Based on the notes, I think there may be a lot of btl variation here. The color of this made it look 10 years older than it is. Brownish bricking on the edge, I could have picked this as a mid 90's Gran Riserva. In the mouth, however, it was youthful, typical, and very graceful. The wood and vanilla were there, but not at all over the top. I like this a lot.
Transparent garnet. Medium nose of bramble, plums, herbs, and tar. The palate is riper, vinous black fruit, and a bit of smokey herb. The finish is long and has nice body, but cleansing and mature. A very nice tempranillo blend.
