Friday Night Non-Blind Tasting (Bin 75): Dark core with dark crimson rim; tar, dark fruit, ripe stewed fruit, currant, pencil shavings, a whiff of green pepper; rich ripe palate, pencil lead, some grip, some jammy sweetness, seemingly a touch of RS not unlike many Zins, higher alcohol, minty finish; good.

This is really nice... silky, polished, and restrained, yet modern. There's a lot of dried herbs and sweet wild berry juice. Not hugely extracted, just pretty, with ripe, sweet fruit. Well made and attractive. Has the Cab Franc fruit profile, though a lot of the varietal character is ironed away. As red wines go, this is good. Drink now-2017.

I really am passionate about this wine. This bottle is maybe a bit under-rated as it wasn't a good match for the food it was served with!
