  • We had this a while back. A better showing than our first taste, but still nowhere near the quality of other Cerise vineyard wines. Perhaps it would have been better with more time? If I had other bottles I would age them for 1+ years more.

  • I had a Coravin taste a few months back. It was not that good. Perhaps the wine needs more time?

  • Opened and let rest for an hour before consuming with a dill salmon dish. Proabbly should have decanted. Cloudy burgundy-crimson with a ruby hue. The nose brought potpori, fresh violets, raspberries, cinamon spices, and cherry pie. The palate was full, square, jagged, and sharp, bringing blackberries, rhubarb, cherry cola, wild herbs, vanilla, and candied raspberries into the tail, which was hot and disjointed. Good tecture and concentration but it's delivered in a distracting oaky, acidic frame. Overall, this is not fully mature or it is structually inbalanced, especially for this price point. I tend to think its the later so drink now. Technical score: 89. Enjoyment score 88.

  • Winery tasting. They caught me talking about another producer's Cerise vineyard bottling, and happened to have this open so shared with us. This was big and brawny, clearly a different direction than the Carneros pinots we had been tasting. No longer made by Saintsbury, this was full-bodied with medium acid, and the finish included a distinct note of black tea. Very good.
