Darker ruby. Nose of cola-infused black plum and raspberry. Closed for the most part on the palate. Much swirling and time in the glass revealed mineral and iron notes plus a slim layer of red rasperry and bing cherry fruit. Austere tannins and low acidity. Moderate, iron-inflected finish. Seemed a bit hot also. Could improve with a long sleep in the cellar.

Light to medium ruby with a pink rim. This does show some of the characteristics of a riper-style Pinot, but I would never think this was a CA cab or Aussie shiraz. Floral with red and black fruits, soft in texture but still balanced.

wow, extremely floral nose with noticeable oak and raspberry, almost sweet fruit that creates an initial impresion of a complex California Pinot. With time in glass and decanting, the sweetness turns smoky and develops interesting complexity of earth, smoke, minerals, red fruits, and spice. Really a nice wine that I think will actually age 10 more years, but not particularly Corton like... No noticeable heat and perhaps a bit soft but delicious. I wish I had some of this in my cellar...

La Paulee Luncheon; 11/19/2009-11/23/2009 (Osvaldos): The vintage characteristics show. This is really big and ripe wine and even more so after standing for a few hours in the bottle. The dark coffeeish almost toffee like notes covers a juicy dark fruited core of black cherries and black berries. In fact, I get that mocha spicy tones that I usually associate with shiraz. An abomination if we consider its lineage but objectively point for point this is quite a wine...brooding and dark...like a minion lurking beyond the pine wooded forests. Ripely sweet and confected . I am not suprised if this was guessed as an aussie cab or cab shiraz in a blind. That said, this felt that it needed more time as well. Has structure and does have acidity but almost overwhelmed by the fruit sweetness. If parker had his sway in burg land, this will be it.
