  • Has developed very nicely. Nose has a "twiggy" element and bright raspberry notes. Palate of richer darker fruits. Drink now or next 3 years.

  • Time seems to have been kind to this bottling, which is drinking quite well now. Good zin w/ bright fruit

  • I guess this is a controversial wine….flawed with VA, of which BWC offered to refund bottles. 3 barrels made, from young vines……I don't have a problem at all with this bottle. I popped and poured out a little…then put the cork back in and did the Mollydooker/Saxum shake! Fizzed up a little, but not as bad as I've seen from 04 Saxum! The fruit is bright and tart…raspberry,cherry,olallieberry,blackberry…..little sourskin(young vines)…but has a good balance of bramble, dryness, and sweet. Slight heat at first…maybe more acidity…which alivens the senses…but plenty of balance with dry cocoa powder, briar patch, kirsch liqueur, licorice, white pepper, peppermint patty. This is a laser beam Zin…fresh and bright, with plenty of Zin tastiness! Can even go longer imo.

  • Interesting experiment with this wine. Opened at party with no background on the "refund". A couple folks dumped it, but a couple folks professed to liking it. Myself, I found it to be a bit stewed and pruney, but had some nice elements as well. Not sure if more time will serve this well or not. Appreciative of the refund, but not so bad as to have been necessary IMO.

  • I always wonder if it's just time we need.

I brought this to a party where there was no risk if the bottle was bad. However, I was pleased with this little zinfandel and didn't have any of the issues mentioned in others' notes. It was a balanced, fruity zin that was actually pretty light on the palate. No overly prune-y notes and no noticeable alcohol. Not going to win any awards, but other people liked it as well.

Chilled in fridge prior to consumption for an hour, left outside for 30 minutes before it was popped and poured.

If I just got lucky, well, then, that's great. Otherwise, everyone else, consider trying one to see if things haven't improved.
