  • Decanted 1 hr. I’ve had a so so run on some older reds lately, so my expectations where some what tempered here. Happy to report all in all this was very good. The only downside was the finish came across a bit dry, probably saw some serious barrique being a 99 and a reserve at that. Ok, all positive from here on out. Fetching nose, roses, soy and all the good mature Barolo notes…palate more of the same, very floral tasting, good acidity but balanced, tenacious and lingers quite a while after chugging each sip. Very nice.

  • This is classic fully mature Barolo, all dried rose petals and tar on the palate. Though there are a lot tertiary notes here there is still red fruit to carry the wine and provide pleasure. Nicely rounded wine, medium plus body, tannin and acidity providing grip without being too much. Long and complex, drinking now and will continue for another decade.

  • Very nice and drinking well tonight - mature, but in no danger of dropping off a cliff. A little dash of funk on the nose, and nicely expansive on the palate.

  • Deep garnet, musty nose with underlying dried, dark fruit and earth, raisin, cumin, spice, truffle, on the attack followed by drying tannins and strong acidity, finish is long with dried black fruits, cinnamon, leather, black truffle, iron and charred earth

Borderline flawed, way too old in color and taste for a 20 year old Barolo, purchased in 2008 from a reputable retailer and been resting in my cellar ever since

  • This 1999 Clerico Percristina was surprisingly fragrant and smooth, unlike the other wines I have tasted from Clerico, which were all muscular and heavily oaked. Tasted blind - Fresh dark berries, cassis, rose petal, mild leather and tar (nebbiolo characteristics). Medium weight with ripe tannins and refreshing acidity, a good vintage it seems. Possibly traditional style (I was wrong, they use a lot of new oak!). Bitter chocolate on the finish. Nebbiolo, Barolo 2006? (89/100)
