Wonderful bottle of new world syrah. Powerfully structured style in the prime of resolving its tannins. Notes of beef blood, iodine, dark fruits has plenty of weight and zing in the mouth. At what I would expect to be its peak in balance. Does have a rather short finish that excludes it from the class of ultra premier wines.

Upon opening the nose has a hickory barbeque pork aroma, with Japanese incense and berries. Flavors of ripe blackberries, citrus rind, limestone, granite, graphite, with plenty of acidic brightness. Finish is beautifully complex with more meat and minerals.

What a refreshing surprise. Just a big mouthful of full tilt tasty syrah. I don't remember the purity of fruit being there in past bottles, but this was great and not an edge on it at all. Boisenberry, purple/magenta, bright and smooth. A straight up cali syrah that worked great with the pasta w/hot sausage and red sauce I prepared with it. Not a wine to think about, a wine to drink!

While the wine still shows tannin, the fruit is starting to fade a bit. Drink up any bottles you still have soon.
