Pale coloured with delicate bubbles. Sweet aromas, dominated by a strawberry jam note, a hint of orange peel and yeastyness. Quite weighty with a fine mousse, zingy lemon fresh with the yeasty note returning in the finish.

From memory. I really liked this mineral-driven style. There was also a fruit element which took the edges off the acidity. Better than most champagnes I have tried.

Bizarre mousse. Puts Fairy Liquid to shame. Medium to light weight with very fresh green apple acidity, but at £20 grossly overpriced. I followed this up with a 2005 Cremant de Bourgogne by Denis Fouquerand that cost me £5 out in Burgundy and there was no comparison. The Cremant won hands down. The Ridgeview is still young and will probably calm down with bottle age, but on this showing it's not to my taste.

Very light and very very dry, aggressive bubbles, not comparable to champagne and not as good as Quartz Reef's sparkling wine, which costs 50% less!

A little simple without a great deal of depth. Good as an aperitif but I prefer richer styles
