What a surprise this wine was. I really expected it to be over the hill but it has transformed into something quite new. Its a big concentrated wine for a grenache and really into the secondary aged characters. Reminded me 100% of the Amarone wines i have have tasted. Fruit cake with some big plum and berry compote but some lighter complex strawberry notes on the nose. Oak big but integrated, alcohol big but integrated too. Quite amazing really. 93

The wine looks tawny colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig, prune and alcohol/hot. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

This bottle had thrown a noticeable tartrate crust on the cork but otherwise was sediment free. Intense but deep aromas of sweet vanilla oak and undergrowth / earth. With breathing, developed lovely juicy blackberry and sweeter blackcurrant fruit pastilles. The tannins are silky soft and the acidity is beautifully balanced. On the finish, the earthy notes mingle with floral violet flavours I associate with blackberry. Delicious, not a show wine - just very well poised, and at its peak.

Decanted for 2 hours. On the nose it showed a little cherry and a bit of chocolate as well. Nice wine that starts with a whack of fruit but the longer in the glass the better it got. Tannins are very fine and oak a back seat. Quite big for a Grenache. The fruit is the primary focus and all in all a pretty good Grenache.
