  • Tasted this at the beginning of a Beaujolais tasting, maybe not the best wine to start with. This is a BIG Beaujolais, from start to finish. Ripeness on the nose, no bright fruit here. Almost like a candied red fruit vibe going on. Palate is big, but not flabby for a second - it has such a bright acidity and just a lick of grippy tannins. Some vermouthy bitterness on the finish. Big boy Beaujolais. Great to taste, but not a style I would stock up on.

  • Very exuberant on the nose; very alive, yes fruit forward, but not the grapey grapey kind... pretty elegant, but feels fully resolved. That is, it's tertiary, it's not bright strawberries and other bright red berries, it's earthy strawberries and other berries now. The nose is massive and huge, and there's a lot going on... red apple skins, and really nice spices, too (like pumpkin pie spice blend). Really delectable and full bodied on the palate, almost voluptuous, and nicely integrated. Good texture, but a bit more mild and soft than the nose would have implied. The finish immediately attacks with puckering acidity and high toned fruit and some nice intense tannins as well. The nose and the finish are really killer here, with a bit subdued palate. Also fun that the three (nose, palate, finish) present differently. Pretty and well integrated. I recently had the '09 Côte du Py and it was even better still, but this is really good right now. I still have no hesitation to keep drinking these, but I am curious about evolution as I think this could go another 5-15 years... perhaps I'll target drinking mine other that time period, starting in another 2-3 years for the next.

  • Well the boys needed a bottle and this one was close. They loved it. I hate to see it go…

  • This is terrific age worthy Beaujolais. It is fine with red and dark fruit that is tart, inviting and delicious. This wine is complex with layers of mineral, game meat, herb/grass, intermixed with the beautiful fruit.

  • This needed hours to fully open up, and I wish we'd decanted it. But once it finally sang, it was beautiful. Savory and spicy, though not as much as the Cote du Py. Mostly resolved, but should have at least another 5 years of evolution in it, perhaps 10. Alas, my last bottle.
