Archery Summit Estate Vertical (Jason's House): Pop and pour. The nose on this wine is complex and seductive. Smoke, tobacco, dark red fruit. The palate is all that, but it seems to be falling apart, with some granular alcohol and a woody component showing up.

This was pop n pour....it was actually decent for its age, but strictly looking just at the wine, standing alone, the fruit was fading. It still had some elegant and subtle notes of cherry, cedar, and a touch of blackberries, with a hint of chocolate.
This wine held up better than I expected, but still fell a little short for a top notch pinot. Drink if you have some, and drink fast, fruit fades fairly quickly, which cost this wine a couple points, in my book.

16th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Same Old Place): Still has a nice dark color w/ deep black fruit. Slightly hot and tannic and almost "smash mouth" (? overextracted) for its age. Fun but not for every Pinot lover. 90 on day 2.

Big Pinot smell with a touch of oregon funk still lingering. Taste is light on the initial palate, but tight in the body which led to a slightly weird mix. Nice tart finish. Ready to drink now with a bit of glass aeration and can sit another year or two.
