Slightly oily ‘sheen’ on the dark, clear colour. Nose has some bell peppers and secondary hints of leather. Fine, integrated palate. Not fading yet but lacking a little interest. Decent finish

Kids BBQ party at Normanton. From magnum. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of tobacco leaf, ripe bell peppers, blackcurrant, dark red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, mellowed medium acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.1%), fine integrated tannins, plush full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of pencil lead, ripe bell peppers, dark red cherries, blackcurrant, tobacco leaf. Long plush finish. Good quality. Well aged. Could almost pass off for a Bordeaux.

Cellared since release. Exceeded expectations for a 19 yr old $20 bottle. Plenty of dark fruits with leather and tobacco notes. Purchased every year as a cellar defender up until the 13 vintage. A very enjoyable finish to a nice evening.

Nice, solid, muted cherry, earth but not funky. Do like.
