Fantastic nebbiolo right in its window, maybe on the way down a bit. No decant, very soft tannins, poured before the main event (brisket) and it was almost gone before dinner. Apparently my guests thought it was quaffable on its own. But an aromatic and heavy fruit wine that is well balanced.

Sadly I did not do detailed tasting notes as it was consumed on Thanksgiving. But overall a solid wine. It had very good structure and a familiar if not simpler version of the typical barolo and barbaresco flavor profile.
I also remember that it didn't seem to need any more ageing. The 2008 was drinking well now, but I don't see this needing another 10 years like some of its Italian cousins.

An amazing representation of Nebbiolo from of all places Virginia. Old world style with tart cherry, dry cedar, some cranberry and hard wood. A bit short on the finish, an excellent food wine.

Beautiful nose of dark cherries and leather. Tannins have settled down nicely, hints of earth and cedar shavings. Beautiful after 60-90 minutes in the glass.

I should have read the reviews on this one before opening. I figured a quick 20 minute decant before dinner would be sufficient. boy was I wrong. i agree with the other poster who said it has a wonderful nose, but is like sandpaper on the tongue. For me, this did not change until hour 3 in the decanter. The last glass I had was at the 4 hours mark, and at this point it was becoming a good wine. If i did not wait it out, i probably would have given this an 84.
