  • VEO tasting - Moselle, Saar and Ruwer (Restaurant Bolenius, Amsterdam): AP12. Very rich, quite deep colour; very rich nose, lots of botrytis, deep, peach and spice, honey; easily BA weight, very intense and energetic, playful, layered, extremely precise, outstanding length. Great. WOTN. Thank you Frits.

  • This is without doubt one of the two or three greatest German wines I have ever tasted. What a treat from Bob and Arlette to savor at 4 Rivers modern Thai restaurant. It even looked luscious in the glass, medium dark gold, thick and viscous, as if it would not come out of the glass until you turned it upside down. On the nose, oozing with botrytis, very tropical and sweet (supposedly a declassified Beerenauslese). Enormous richnesss in the mouth but not at all cloying because of the vibrant acidity and perfect balance. While usable as a dessert wine, it is just agile enough to pair with slightly spicy or fresh citris fruit. Great length so each sip last long enough to hold until the next one, whenever that is. While it may last for decades, I cannot see how it will improve.
