brvino Wine Tasting #4 - Sparkling Wines (brvino Undergraduate Wine Club at UCLA): Completely clear with deep neon pink colour. Tiny champagne-like bubbles. I get very bright red or sour cherry on the nose. It almost smells like Belgian cherry beer. Maybe there is a little bit of overripe strawberry, too. On the palate, yeastiness shows much stronger. There is sweetness that is balanced by medium acidity, but the tension could be better, if the wine was more acidic. I get much more of the super ripe, even bruised strawberry, some raspberry and red cherry. A little bit of lemon zest. Decently long finish. This is definitely fun and worth a try but it’s not ground breaking, unfortunately. 8/18

Interesting pink/ light orange pigment - nose of bright fresh sweet aromatic strawberries on a yeasty bed - palate lively and crisp with surprisingly rich concentration of flavor - balanced with clean finish - bravo - picked up in shop for 28usd - seems like a real deal - I’ve certainly paid more for far less complete wines.

Bastille Days - Tours de France; 7/14/2023-7/16/2023: dark pink with medium and persistent bubbles. fruity nose of red berries with some sweet floral and woody whiffs. remarkably juicy and refreshing in the mouth, with strawberry and raspberry dominating the palate. some notes of pomegranate and rhubarb appear, softening the sensation of sweetness and leading to a reasonably long finish with pithy minerality. very, very enjoyable!
"demi-sec" levels of sweetness but good balancing acidity and minerality. makes for a good aperitif or companion to somewhat spicy Asian fare.
8% AbV; ~80-90% Gamay and the rest Poulsard; "méthode ancestrale" with secondary fermentation in bottle (when wine has ~60g/L RS); ~40g/L RS at cork bottling.

Anniversary Dinner at Demi (Demi, Mpls): Bright strawberry red color. Drank a glass over 20 minutes from the reserve wine pairing at Demi. Well, this looks to be a trend, as this has shown up multple times at the end of the tasting menu. Raspberry nose; strawberry/reaspberry palate, a bit of a rhubarb top note, fine bubbles, slightly sweet. It does go well with the strawberry dessert. Very consistent notes over the years.
