Decanted 30 mins. This is ageing gracefully, with notes of purple flowers, plums, bright red cherries and spice on the nose. Medium-bodied with seamless integration, this will add a touch of weight in the glass and complexity on the nose with a bit of time. Brilliant acidity makes this a superb food wine. Wish I had some more. Drink thru 2018, approx $35.

Light medium garnet with brown edges. Nose of cherry, plum, dark chocolate. Very little fruit on the palate. Dominated by oak, spice, and acidity. Dry somewhat short finish. Overly oaked with a sherry-like quality but very thin on the palate. Not much to write home about. (C-).

Fading black cherry color in the glass. Initially lots of alcohol, watery with a little tannic grip. With 1hr decanting (and now with food) was more enjoyable. Reminded me heavily of Vina Ardanza wines, specifically the Rioja Alta cuvee. Now leather, tobacco, black cherries, plums and black currants, though by no means is this fruity. This may have a few more years if stored properly, but i cant see it getting better. Later it gained more complexity as i noticed charred wood and browning garlic smells. Not a bad stab, good Rioja with food, but not outstanding by any means.
