Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Well, here's a one off bottle that was amazingly good. Moderately pale with the barest hint of browning at the rim. Immediately attractive, floral nose. Lots of tart red fruit and it eventually showed licorice, some green elements, gaminess, and earth. Delicate for a Nuits and for Gouges. I commented with tongue partially in cheek that this was perhaps the first mature Gouges wine I've ever had. Maybe that is what it takes-a generally weak, low tannin vintage that should have been consumed 10 years ago. All I know is that this provided infinitely more pleasure than the '90 Vogue we had a few nights ago. Go figure. Pretty incredible wine for a fragile vintage.
