  • This has been decanted now for 2 1/2 hours. The nose is a earthy spice blended with a darker tone. This bottle seems slightly unbalanced but the fruit is a dark berry and plum with a little vanilla and almost balances out the acids. There is a lot of spice and earth on the palate and a rich velvety mouth feel. With dinner this was an easy 89, but finishing up our glass now, after dinner, it is slipping a bit.

  • After a dozen hours of aeration, this vibrant Cabernet revealed bright acidic raspberries, dark chocolate covered aniseed and mandarin orange scents. Flavors of chocolate, molasses, Worcestershire sauce and rosemary infused grilled meats coated the tongue with a caramel feel. Rich and opulent, this cab has many years of life to evolve for the lingering finish continued to parade distinct complexities not noted earlier in the evening.
I’m holding my next bottle for at least 2 years.

  • At Vino Volo, flight "Captivating Cabernets". Lightest body of the three wines, but not light in a bad way. Rather, it was lithe and bright with exuberant aromatics of dust, blueberry, black currant and mint. Good acidity adds to its attractiveness--very refreshing, and how often does one use that word around a cabernet?

  • Spent 21 months in 70% new French oak (predominantly from Troncais and Alliers) and 30% 3-year neutral French oak. Extremely excited by this line up, and future line-ups. Their wines came sprinting out of the gates upon first release. They are a shining example of great juice coming out of the region. This cab is extremely well made, optimum silky mouth feel and lovely flavors of black currant, brick and graphite profiles which rival the best Walla Walla has to offer. This cab has a long way to go, so patience wiill reward if you are willing to lay it down a couple years. What else would you expect from Billo Naravane, winemaker for Rasa (and Mackey)!? Tasted: Fall Release 11/11. Drink 2013-2018. Bought from winery.
