First night: ran it through vinturi. Maroon in color, some fruit on the nose, medium tannins, very mild dark berry flavors, slightly astrigent finish, and very little acid tartness. I liked that it was neither overwhelming with fruit or acid and the tannins weren't overbearing. I was somewhat ambivalent about the mild astrigent finish. It wasn't unpleasant, but not really pleasant either. We drank half the bottle paired with roast, and it was a pleasant enough accompaniment. Recorked the bottle with a vacuum plug, but only pulled out one stroke on the vacuum pump.
Week later: There was a bit more plum flavor, but otherwise was very similar to the week previous, until...I had a sip after having taken a bite of spaghetti with a slightly spicy red sauce that had lots of basil in it. From that point on, there was more dark fruit with lots more leather...in a good way, though there was still something of an astrigent finish.

This wine reminds me of what makes merlot so pleasant to drink! It's not that tutti fruitti version that gives merlot a bad name. This wine has plenty of blackberry and cherry aromas with a soft, easy mouthfeel. Very easy to drink.

The cork was a wreck, but the years have been kind to this. Very enjoyable bottle.

Nice fruit. A little flabby - wouldn't start a bottle and save the 2nd half for the next day because it'd be bad/syrupy already.

Tasted a hint of cherries but not much else. Not much fragrance other then the alcohol. Not bad, but nothing special.
