My last bottle and I think this was my best. The wine has really held up. Rich red fruit flavors mixed with a touch of wood a little vanilla . The wine is well integrated and drinking surprisingly well.
Dull nose and palate of mature raspberry fruit with blueberries, herbs and dirt. Second glass considerably less interesting than the first. Just eh. The 97 hasn't stood up to time as well as other earlier 90's vintages did. It's not even aging so much as just fading away. Drink up!
Sorry to say, maybe my taste buds are bad, but these just haven't been as impressive as I remember. Age maybe, over the hill after 13 years. Maybe expecting too much after that time. It took about 3 hours for it to open, which probably shows that it still had lots of tannin. The nose was still there, although not iimpressive, the taste was diminished, little chocolate or berries, short duration with not much after burners. I think this is my last bottle, which is good.
