Much better than 2005. Was a bit sheepish opening as was one quarter of the price of previous wine (also coincidentally from the same year). This one was preferred though. Nose of matchstick wood and Bonox. Well balanced mouth of raspberries and beef vegetable soup with fine tannins. Long finish of cranberry popcorn and then blackberry cheesecake. Much bigger than I expected for a koonunga. EDIT: I opened up the other bottle I had with this one and it was disappointing (even after opening for 3-4 hours), so there is some bottle variation.

Not a wonderful wine, but for $8 that I paid, has a tremendous QPR. Still a bit tannic. Had to decant and was just OK. Vanilla, oak, tart berries. Nothing great, but again, for $8, really good.

Visual - dark burgundy, medium legs Nose - fruity, plummy medicinal notes Palate - full bodied, dry, not dark chocolate, medium acidity, no distinctive fruit flavours Good sipping wine

These get significantly better with a little age. Still hedonistic, but more layered now.
