Wines in the Maldives (Fudaan, Anantara Dhigu): A very decent SB. Rather big and ripe for a Sancerre, but certainly well controlled. Nose showed classic SB notes of gooseberries, grass, passionfruit and a dose of earthy mineral. Very nice. The palate had some higher tone, citrus notes, with grapefruit at the fore, along with a fleshy white fruit background where some ripe gooseberry notes lingered alongside a chalky mineral finish. A bit simple, but a nice entry-level wine with a good sense of weight and focus. Excellent balance here meant that the wine went very nicely with a variety of different seafood dishes.
