  • Really nice Morey 1er cru, aligned with the vintage. Some spice, wet earth at nose. Very balanced. Density of a 1er cru. Still has a few years to go but in a mature phase now. Solid wine, maybe a bit too expensive for its level

  • Popped and poured. This is a light garnet red that shimmers in the glass. The nose is very fragrant, carrying aspects of cherry, spice, rosehips, wet earth, and autumn leaves. In the mouth, this shows bright red fruit combined with a nice satin touch – while drinking a glass, it is clear this is a pure and balanced wine. The finish is crisp with some lingering cherry and licorice root flavor. Overall, this is a terrific wine that was really enjoyable today. 93 points.

  • Post issue:
Color was brick but had little to no discoloration around the rim. No sediment.

The smell on this was awesome showing complex fruit and some more earthy tones. Seriously, especially on day 2, my ratio was 5:1 smelling to sipping.

On the palate the mouth feel was less than what I was expecting for the price and on day 2 the tannins and some alcohol spoke most loudly. Maybe its an indication of being out of the drinking window or probably a sign of the ripe 2009 vintage (or both!).

I would suggest hanging on to these for a few more years to see where they go. Still enjoyable now though.

  • Used for latter 1/2 of turkey dinner. Son had the same score, 92. This was a beautiful wine, although not up the standards of the Grand Cru that preceded it. Had excellent fruit front and middle, and some nice spice. There was a tad harshness and stems on the finish. The finish was quite long, but just didn't have the same quite the same fullness and was not quite able to make the complete statement with the same quality as the other.

  • Brambly wood, match head, ripe dark berry fruit. Tannins medium. Drinks very well right now. Easy to like, and a welcome easy-drinker in the roulette game that is Burgundy red.
